I will be showing at CCACA next week , getting my new work fired at the Stanford Ceramics Studio kiln.
This was fired last week in an anagram wood fired kiln. It’s porcelain, with blue (cobalt carbonate) underglazes. The wood ash adds a nice uneven crystalline surface. It’s actually from the minerals incorporated into the tree as it grows. The wood ash creates it’s own glaze as its burned. If you look closely you can see that many of the crystals are square.
