This was fired last week in an anagram wood fired kiln. It’s porcelain, with blue (cobalt carbonate) underglazes. The wood ash adds a nice uneven crystalline surface. It’s actually from the minerals incorporated into the tree as it grows. The wood ash creates it’s own glaze as its burned. If you look closely you can see that many of the crystals are square.

These were Anagama and wood soda fired. They are all from about 12 to 16 inches tall. I’m trying to combine abstract forms and abstract color placement. I’m still developing this series, it’s an evolutionary process. For me a sculptural object consists of 3 elements; form, color and surface texture. A harmonious meeting of all three is what I’m after.
